FIRED UP! READY TO GO!
LIFE: A BOOT CAMP FOR CONSCIOUSNESS

If we are not fired up, we are not likely to pursue our life’s greatest dream. Building the right consciousness is like an athlete training his body to be best for his sport. If at times, we become discouraged and feel down, remember the old Yiddish saying, “In the twinkling of an eye, salvation comes.” It will pick you up.

It did, former president, Barak Obama. It was during his campaign for the Democratic Candidacy in the 2008 election. He arrived in the small town of Greenwood, South Carolina, on a rainy evening, sick and down in spirit. Going to the car, his umbrella blew inside-out and he was soaked. His driver said the hall of his destination was an hour and a half away.

Only a handful of people were there at Mr. Obama’s arrival, and neither he, nor they, were feeling particularly inspired by each other’s presence. He, nonetheless, started his speech and as he did, a little woman in the back shouted out, “Fired up!” The few people responded, “Fired up!” She then said, “Ready to go!” They responded “Ready to go!” He was perplexed. He had no clue of what that meant. Yet, as he proceeded, so did they, but, then, he began to warm up and feel good about himself, and gave a terrific speech.

Ever since, whenever he was down, Mr. Obama used the motto, “Fired up, ready to go!”

As the dark clouds of doubts and depression punctuate our journey towards our greater vision, we may be fired up by thinking of Life as a boot camp. It is Life’s way of preparing us to firing up our consciousness, by optimistically persisting with faith despite negative conditions. Only then, will we be inspired by the athleticism of our winning consciousness, to spring into action for our success, as it did for Mr. Obama.

Therefore, think of the worst of times as nothing but a boot camp to prepare you for the best of times still ahead.

As we are “fired up and ready to go,” the reignited enthusiasm for our dreams will affirm the truth, “In the twinkling of an eye, salvation comes.”
