MEN’S HEALTH Interestingly Aristotle’s emphasis on what people do is much sharper than what they think. He said, “You are what you habitually do.” He did not say, “You are what you sometimes do,” but habitually do. It is well known that men are much more reluctant to check with the doctor on health matters than are women. Today, women are outliving men in every country in the world. That's right: According to the latest U.S. report, life expectancy for the women is 81.2 years compared to 76.4 years for males. Studies show behavior, and not biology, is the culprit. The Function of Philosophy Roland Faber in his book “The Becoming God” “Process Theology, Philosophy, and Multireligious Engagement,” said [Philosopher Alfred North] “Whitehead in his last book, Modes of Thought (1937), presented to us with a surprising appeal to the inevitable relationship between society, philosophy, and mysticism. This triangulation may be established in two steps. First, Whitehead holds that it is one of the most important functions of philosophy to provi de society with ever-fresh conceptualizations of reality so as to avoid the petrification of its life into doomed repetitions of its past." Taking this first step of philosophy in consideration, I wonder how many folks are interested in not concretizing their notion of God by their readings of our ancient texts.
